Simon Stone brews his Spingo Ales in an ancient barn behind The Blue Anchor in the Cornish village of Helston. Naturally, only the finest ingredients are good enough for Simon’s champion beers: Goldings hops from Worcester, Tuckers malt from Newton Abbott and fresh water straight from the cold tap. The trouble is, since tourists quadruple the local population during the summer months, water levels at the Colliford Reservoir were becoming over stretched. Which meant that the good people of Cornwall (and Simon’s brewery) were facing a serious water shortage. Decisive action was needed, and in a major project South West Water began pumping water to the reservoir from the nearby River Fowey. Which is where Stanton came in. In a massive undertaking, we worked hand in glove with South West Water to supply £3 million worth of 1000mm ductile iron pipes and fittings. Speed was of the essence, and the use of ductile iron enabled us to complete things in double quick time. But as ever at Stanton, we always go that extra mile to help projects run smoothly. So we delivered 2000 pipes by rail to keep Cornwall’s lanes free from pounding lorries. Stanton. Helping South West Water keep the water (and beer) flowing to the people of Cornwall.
